Wodson walked away from this game very happy, as they were gifted the win by an absolute joke decision from the referee, who awarded them a penalty in the 90th minute, when Simon Carmichael supposedly handled the ball, only seen by the referee as everyone else including linesman, saw the ball strike Simon on the shoulder and neck, maybe just a coincidence but this was 10 minutes after the referee said to players “I cant be having this game go to extra time”
This was a game dominated by the Town boys for 90 minutes and it was only one slight keeper mistake that let Wodson take an early lead, when the keeper came out to far off his line and misjudged and the ball, and it went straight over the top of him even though he did get a touch on the ball it still found the back of the net.Town soon replied when a lose ball found its way through to Jim Carmichael and he smashed it past the stunned Wodson keeper, into the back of the net.
The only negative to take from this game is that maybe if Town put the many chances away that they had, then the referee would not have been able to influence the result in the way he did.
Town face Wodson again in two weeks and the boys will be looking to prove a point. |
